Windy Day In Vancity

Stormy, blustery weather? No problem. Go fly a kite

Not a specific post today, just a comment about the weather…?
Went for a walk along the Kits beach path to Granville Island and back today in the intense, blustery wind. I thought for sure only the serious kite fliers would be out, and I was right… a couple of pretty fit guys were bracing themselves against the wind, barely avoiding being lifted into the heavens.

There were others out there too. Three kids, a brother and two sisters with kites of their own somehow keeping them aloft as the wind, leaves and sand whipped by them.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I was impressed… especially when the little boy requested in no uncertain terms that his older sister “Stay away from my string. You’ll wreck everything!”

No GoYos for kids of the twenty first century. Look at the lines, the quality... before they lose it.

Heavy piece of wood and a thin string holding it out of harms way? I was never one for yo-yos… could never get the tricks to work although I was able to do the basics… and not those lame Go-Yo basics either. I was strictly legit.

Playsam shop offers a pretty simple and very sweet yo-yo for purchase. The lacquered natural finish would be my pick, but to each his own.

For some reason they chose to use framesets for their site, so the link doesn’t go straight to the product. To get there click the link, scroll the frame to “Other Products” and thar she be in all her shiny glory.

To the moon!

Sometimes The Best Toys Are The Simplest Ones

I’m not suggesting we go back to wire and a loop… or just a cardboard box, unless that’s what the kid asks for. That said, you don’t need to spend thousands to keep a kid and their friends happy.

Evidence you demand? Evidence you shall have.

All you need is a little dish soap (do they make that stuff biodegradable now?), water and one of these sweet, sweet, multiple ring bubble makers.

You don’t have to break the bank to bring the kids to your yard.

Get your little engineer off to a strong start. Wooden digger and combi-car with digger front.

Some of you might be good engineers today, but imagine the success you’d be if your parents had sprung for some of the items on offer from Holz Toys. Not only do these things actually work and allow your kid to mimic the big boys… but the kid’s SUPPOSED to ride on them.

Wooden Digger
While the kid in the photo appears pretty comfortable with his new toy something tells me this thing could quickly separate the top 5% percent (in terms of coordination) from the “others.”

CombiCar With Digger Front
If Jr. struggles with the Wooden Digger maybe you should consider this one. Not only does it look easier to manipulate, I suspect it will also help build up the forearms.

Wonder how much they cost to ship from the UK?

Moolka. Stylish retro toys for small kids and large. I WILL own the espresso racecar.

Moolka
While its clear that Europeans build cool adult cars, I’m sure you’ve been wondering whether they dominate the luxury toy car market as well… right? Am I right? Of course I am.

The answer my friends, as I’m sure you’ve guessed is yes, of course they do.
Roll on over to Moolka.com to check out these remarkably cool toys… the lightening blue Xtreamliner Cab, Airliner Black and Oldtimer Espresso are far and away my personal favourites.
