So When’s This Weak Economy Going To Produce Strong Deals?

If you ask me, we’re already seeing it. Just did a quick review of Amazon’s deal section and found the following as a small selection of what’s out there:

Discovery Exclusive Rainbow in my Room

Discovery Exclusive Ready Set Learn! Jump & Dance Music Mat

Fisher-Price Elmo’s Restaurant (26% off)

Diaper Bags From Skip Hop (25% off)

Based on what I’m reading this may only be the beginning. On the one hand good news as we all find ‘good deals’ online, while at the same time terrifying for what it represents to the economy.

Please don’t forget about the eBay.com / Live.com deals available to those of you located in the US with US eBay accounts. Just search for a product on Live.com and click on the eBay result link with the “Live Search cashback” text beside it. You’ll have a limited amount of time to purchase a buy it now item on the site and in 60 days you’ll be credited the amount of the discount to your PayPal account. As I write this the discount is 25% which should certainly help with your Holiday shopping needs. Enjoy!

Peppermint Cards. Just In Time For Holiday Gift Planning

Peppermint design Pic: Peppermint cards offer something new for the holidays

Etsy user althealoglia has a series of art cards available in a series entitled “Peppermint cards” that seem perfect for the coming holiday gift needs. Sure, candy canes have green in them (do they? it’s been a few months) and these are red and white, but I think they’d be a great change from the usual.

Some of the other art cards are a little wild for my tastes, but to each his own and I encourage you to check them out.

While you’re at it, why not finish things off with some accents from sweetmulberry

Serious Post. Update Flash ASAP

Sorry for the lack of updates this weekend… no excuse.

What I do have is a plea for any readers to update Flash in all browsers on your machine. A pretty nasty exploit has been published in the past few days that takes advantage of browser weaknesses (nope, using FireFox instead of IE won’t help you here) as well as all previous versions of Flash installed on those browsers.

While there aren’t any browser fixes at this time, Adobe has patched the Flash issue in their most recent Flash update so head over to Adobe and make sure you have the most recent version asap.

The Adobe update page is here – don’t forget to uncheck the shady auto-opt-in toolbar download before you install.

For anyone interested in geeking out over the specifics of the exploit you can find it explained here

Your Kids Will Listen To Terrible Music Eventually. Why Not Have Fun With It?

Vinyl Cafe Christmas Tour. Is It Coming To Your Town?

Vinyl Cafe Pic: Vinyl cafe holiday series with stuart mclean is the perfect early gift for the family.

This is a post primarily for the Canadians who visit this site, but there will be a New York stop for the Christmas tour, and stops in Maine for the Christmas series.

Stuart McLean’s Vinyl Cafe stories have been a favourite of mine for a year. Something about his voice, and the stories take me back to when I was much younger… one of those comfort things that I try not to miss each week.

I attended last December’s series and loved it. While it was very different from listening on the radio, or via podcast I absolutely loved sitting back and listening to the music and stories live.

If you aren’t familiar with Stuart McLean or the Vinyl Cafe I encourage you to download or subscribe to the Vinyl Cafe podcast here. I assure you that not only is it child friendly, but your kids will love the stories, especially the Christmas classic involving Dave and the turkey.

Those of you in Canada can have a look at the tour locations and dates here to book your seat.

Vinyl Cafe is also available on CD and in book form from online or local booksellers.

Enjoy!

Pramulator Baby Carriage. A Baby Stroller Guaranteed Way To Stand Out. No Matter Where You Live.

Pramulator Pic: Pramulator is a weird cross between a baby carriage and a shiny silver airstream trailer

Forget those flashy modern $2000 strollers and hippy slings, Neatorama has the answer for the parents wanting a unique solution to baby care. Some guy named John Knott came up with the Pramulator, which they compare to an airstream trailer crossed with a baby carriage. I can see that, however I’m going to take a modern-retro approach in describing it as a cross between an old school baby carriage (those white tires need hundred spoke wheels) and a Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang in chrome.

Biggest concern when looking at this thing is that little arch behind the baby’s head. I know that pic looks like its from the 50s or something… back when there were no rules and kids played with razor blades, but shouldn’t that thing be ringed with padding?

Here it is, the Pramulator
